Industrial Strength Metal Lighting Pole Comply with Wind ...

Contractors bidding in diverse geographies often encounter a problem when proposing specific steel lighting poles and metal light pole mounting equipment. We are all familiar with Effective Projected Area (EPA) ratings and how they vary widely in different coastal and regional portions of our nation. Many lighting designers who work in multiple states or on a nationwide basis frequently have to procure steel lighting poles from multiple distributors in order to ensure compliance with wind resistance ratings. This of course can complicate the proposal process if you are dealing with too many distributors, all with different policies of procurement, shipping, and consultative support. A lighting specialist can assist you in the process.

Certain metal light pole shafts provide minimum yield strength of 55,000 PSI. This gives the contractor facing strict adherence to ASTMA-500 grade C standards a strong competitive advantage on the bid, because these poles feature a uniform wall thickness resulting from a one-piece construction. Each light pole is made from welded carbon steel to give it full-length longitudinal resistance.

Regardless of the geographic location of your client, you can be confident that your proposal will meet with all wind resistance compliance codes and offer your client a sturdy support for the lighting fixtures they need for safety, security, and optimal decorative lighting output.

These metal lighting poles are carefully prepared prior to galvanization and powder coating. Steel light poles are cleansed of manufacturing by-products by means of an overhead conveyor system that cleans the steel with high powered, compressed air at a rate of 4000 shots per second from every conceivable angle. This leaves the steel lighting pole in a white metal condition that makes coating bond more permanently with the surface of the metal and maximizes the PSI yield that results from the subsequent treatments applied.

The powder coating process ensures extra finish adhesion and protection. Every steel lighting pole is then pre-heated to 3500 degrees Fahrenheit to further ensure adherence of powder coat finishes. Metal light poles are hand coated with either standard green or brown finishes or custom colors, then dried and baked to make them resistant to extreme cold, heat, and humidity.

Contractors who work on a nationwide basis can be confident that these steel lighting poles will work in any environment at the same performance level regardless of rain, sun, shine, snow, or storm.

Internal coating protects steel against atmospheric conditions in industrial environments. It is also a critical form of protection from salt air. These steel lighting poles are able to withstand 1000 hours of salt spray exposure because of this special corrosion resistance. In effect, this coating acts as a super inhibitive primer that prevents pollutants and salt from deteriorating the metal lighting pole interior. This process conforms fully to ASTMB-117 code compliance.

Optional galvanization makes the pole even more resistant. If you are bidding a job near or on the beach, it is strongly recommended to invest in a special, additional galvanization process that maximizes the steel light poles for inclement weather, pollution, and salt air resistance. Prior to powder coating the pole, we dip all internal and external metal surfaces in a hot molten zinc/steel alloy that adds an additional protective barrier to both the interior and exterior surfaces of the steel pole.

Galvanization adds another 5 years to the standard 5 year warranty on metal light poles, so clients on a budget can consider this as a savings on maintenance and replacement costs backed up in writing.

A polyester thermosetting powder coat is electronically applied as standard on all finished poles. Finishes are available in standard green and brown and also in any number of custom colors for clients who wish to add a decorative element to their parking lots and landscapes.

The anchor base is fabricated from a structural quality hot rolled carbon steel plate that meets minimum yield strength 36,000 PSI. This gives the steel lighting poles additional strength and stability, because the anchor base actually telescopes the pole shaft with circumferential, welded top and bottom support. Steel anchor bolts, hex nuts, and washer are included with every metal lighting pole to make installation and mounting simple, safe, and time efficient.
