FLOWERY BRANCH ? If Fox puts a close up shot of Falcons tackle Will Svitek, you?ll see that he?s growing a mustache.

He?s growing it for a good cause.

?In 2001, my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer,? Svitek said. ?It was 10 years ago. He had surgery in 2001 and radiation in 2004. He?s been seven years cancer free.?

Will Svitek is set to make his third straight start at left tackle for the injured Sam Baker.

He?s working with ?Movember? a non-profit charity that rallies men to grow a moustache during the month of November to raise awareness and funds for men?s health. The two beneficiaries are the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LiveSTRONG.

Svitek has choosen to raise funds and talk about prostate cancer.

?It?s something that?s always been special to me,? Svitek said. ?It affects 1 in 6 men. It?s highly prevalent and it?s something that we don?t talk about. As men, we don?t want to talk about feelings or issues or health problems. Awareness needs to be out there. If detected early, it?s very curable. That?s the main thing about it.?

His mustache is starting to fill in.

?The mustache kind symbolizes the awareness symbol, kind of like how pink symbolizes breast cancer,? Svitek said. ?I have a personalized page on the Movember website where people can go and donate to it. Obviously, the biggest goal is to create awareness.?

You can also follow Svitek and get updates on Twitter.com.

Some of the Falcons have joined the cause including?Todd McClure, Sam Baker, Michael Palmer and Reggie Kelly.??

MORE ON MOVEMBER

Movember, a 501(c)(3) charity, is the global movement engaging men to grow a moustache for the month of November for the purpose of raising awareness and funds to benefit men?s health- specifically cancer affecting men. The moustache becomes the ?hairy ribbon? for men?s health and the guys growing them become a walking billboard for 30 days. As you can imagine, the growth of a new moustache sparks hundreds of conversations about the taboo topics of men?s health. Since their humble beginnings in 2004, they have become the world?s #1 non-government private funder of prostate cancer research, with more than 1 million participants having raised more than $174 million. Last year in the US, 65,000 men and women came together to raise over 7.5 million dollars for men?s health. Movember operates official campaigns in ten countries; campaign funds raised in the United States benefit research and survivorship programs at the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.
